Midway through the semester, the William Paterson University police responded to a number of calls including 18 violations of the University’s narcotics policy, 10 theft reports, seven arrests due to active warrants, five reports of harassment, three reports of damage to University property, two violations of the University’s alcohol policy, and one reported fight, robbery, burglary, DUI, sexual assault and one report of fraud charges on a student’s bank statement.
On Feb.27, March 4-7, 10, 12-14, 18 and 25, 10 out of the 18 reported narcotics cases resulted in arrests. Students who were not arrested were referred to judicial affairs for violating the University’s narcotics policy. The violations occurred in Overlook North, Overlook South, Hillside Hall, Century Hall, the hiker’s lot, Heritage Hall, Lot 6, and on Hamburg Turnpike, Ratzer Road and Power Avenue.
Thefts on campus occurred on Feb. 25 between 2-3 p.m. in the library, and on Feb.27 at 8:30 a.m., 9:09 a.m. and 7:27 p.m. in Hunziker Wing, the parking garage and Heritage Hall.
Seven arrests occurred due to active warrants on Mar. 5, 19, 20, 23, 25, 27,and 28. All seven arrests were of non-students.
Damage to students’s vehicles occurred on March 4 at 4:53 p.m., March 5 at 1:30 p.m., and March 10 at 7:13 p.m. in Lot 5. As a result, reports were filed and investigations were started.
On March 23 at 11:27 a.m., a student reported an off-campus sexual assault to the William Paterson University police that occurred on March 7. As a result, a report was filed and forwarded to Judicial Affairs.
On March 6 at approximately 1 a.m., a report was filed that a robbery took place near entry 4. As a result, a report was filed and investigation was started.
A possible burglary report was filed on March 7 when University police officers responded to Overlook South. The burglary occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 3:40 a.m. As a result, a report was filed and an investigation was started.
